You can spend months (and sometimes years) preparing for your perfect day. You’ll gather your perfect vendors, each with a vision for your day that matches your own. You will spend forever working out your timelines and seating charts. What you simply can’t do is prepare for how you will feel on the day, itself. Emotions can hit you with a force you didn't expect. Moments of pure joy will appear, without expectation. Something funny will probably happen, along the way. These are the things you can’t predict. Embrace them. They are the best bits of life. They remind us of what it is to be human, to love, to be loved. and they happen all by themselves. You will never ever know how you will feel, until you feel.
This moment, captured completely by accident is why we do what we do - and why we have deliberately changed the way we do things. For so long, we were rushing.
We rushed from one location to the other. We rushed to make sure that everything on our checklist was ticked off. Everything was fast. The pace was frantic; the energy almost frenetic and while we were proud of our work, we felt like we were missing something. We were.
We were missing life. The rush was preventing us from capturing real, unexpected, heartfelt moments. We decided to slow down. We stopped worrying about fitting everything into a five minute highlights film and gifted ourselves more time. We decided to focus on the little things, to take more time, to look for the unexpected. We started looking away from our checklist and into people’s hearts and souls. We are watching life unfold around us, and it is beautiful.
